The Department of Russian Philology at JASU Discussed the Educational Program and the Draft Curriculum for the 2026–2027 Academic Year with Alumni Participation

On May 20, 2026, the Institute of Philology of B. Osmonov Jalal-Abad State University hosted a planned scientific and methodological meeting with graduates of previous years who are currently successfully working as teachers of Russian language and literature in secondary educational institutions of the region.

The main purpose of the meeting was to involve practicing specialists and employers in reviewing and modernizing the educational programs of the Department of Russian Philology, which is an essential component of ensuring the quality of higher education and its compliance with modern school requirements.

During the meeting, the faculty members of the department together with invited alumni conducted a detailed discussion of the following key documents for the 2026–2027 academic year:     • the Main Educational Program for the bachelor’s degree program;     • the catalog of elective disciplines (courses) aimed at developing professional competencies of future teachers;    • the draft of the new curriculum of the department.

The participants discussed issues related to the compliance of the program content with current labor market requirements, professional competencies of graduates, and modern trends in education and professional activity.

As part of the professional discussion, practicing teachers shared their experience and expressed constructive proposals for updating the content of elective courses. Special attention was paid to strengthening the practice-oriented component of education, introducing modern digital educational technologies, and improving methods of teaching the Russian language in Kyrgyz-language classes.

The graduates also shared their employment experiences and proposed including courses aimed at developing practical skills, using modern technologies, and increasing graduates’ competitiveness in the labor market in the list of elective disciplines. They positively evaluated the updated list of elective courses and approved the inclusion of new disciplines focused on modern requirements of the teaching profession. Particular support was given to the disciplines “Legal Acts in Pedagogical Activity,” “Entrepreneurial Skills in Pedagogical Activity,” “Development of Green Skills,” and “Development of Soft Skills.”

The participants also emphasized the need to strengthen the practical orientation of certain specialized disciplines and proposed increasing the number of practical hours for courses such as “Practical Course of the Russian Language” and “Practical Course of Russian Literature.” According to the participants, expanding these disciplines would help improve students’ professional training, develop their speech, communication, and analytical skills, and deepen their knowledge of Russian language and literature.

The staff of the Department of Russian Philology sincerely expresses gratitude to its graduates for their active participation in the review of academic documents. All recommendations and comments received during the meeting will be carefully analyzed and taken into account during the final approval of the curriculum for the new academic year, contributing to the enhancement of the competitiveness and professional training of future young specialists.
