On May 20, 2026, the Department of Russian Philology at Jalal-Abad State University named after B. Osmonov hosted an international scientific and methodological seminar for secondary school teachers entitled “Teaching the Russian Language: Inspiring or Motivating?”. The event became an important platform for professional dialogue, exchange of pedagogical experience, and discussion of current issues in modern philological education.

The seminar was organized by the faculty members of the Department of Russian Philology within the framework of long-term cooperation with Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba and Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after the First President of the Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin. It should be noted that the department’s partnership with leading universities of Russia and Kyrgyzstan has been successfully developing for nearly ten years. During this period, numerous joint educational, scientific, and methodological projects have been implemented, while conferences, seminars, workshops, and educational events have regularly been held in both online and offline formats.

The seminar brought together the academic staff of the Institute of Philology, fourth-year students majoring in “Russian Language and Literature,” as well as teachers of Russian language and literature from secondary schools of Manas city and the Suzak and Bazar-Korgon districts. The wide range of participants contributed to creating an atmosphere of lively professional communication and constructive exchange of experience between university and school communities.

The seminar was conducted by leading specialists in the field of teaching Russian language: — Marina Nikolaevna Kunovski; — Irina Aleksandrovna Dinevich; — Aigerim Ernisova; — Rafiga Rashidovna Gumbatova.

During the seminar, participants discussed modern innovative approaches to teaching Russian as a non-native language, effective methods of increasing students’ academic motivation, the development of communicative competencies, and ways of fostering sustained interest in studying Russian language and literature among school students. Special attention was paid to the implementation of interactive teaching technologies, modernization of methodological tools, and improvement of teachers’ professional skills.

The presentations delivered by the invited specialists attracted considerable interest among the participants. In the atmosphere of open and meaningful dialogue, teachers had the opportunity to discuss current issues of modern language education, exchange practical experience, ask questions of interest, and receive valuable methodological recommendations from leading scholars and educators.

At the end of the event, all participants were awarded certificates from Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba for participation in educational, informational, and awareness-raising activities aimed at improving teachers’ qualifications and developing their professional competencies.

The participants expressed sincere gratitude to the organizers and guests for the informative presentations and the opportunity for professional communication. It was emphasized that such scientific and methodological meetings contribute to strengthening international academic cooperation, developing a unified educational space, and improving the quality of teaching Russian language and literature in educational institutions of the region.
