Guest Lecture on Russian Literature of the Post-War Decade: A Dialogue of Science, Culture, and the Memory of Generations

On May 12, 2026, the Department of Russian Philology hosted a guest lecture for students majoring in “Russian Language and Literature” on the topic: “Typological Features of the Short Story in Russian Literature of the Post-War Decade (based on Yury Nagibin’s story ‘Winter Oak’)”. The lecture was delivered by Olga Viktorovna Efremova, a teacher participating in the project “Russian Teacher Abroad.”

The event was held in an atmosphere of lively academic dialogue and attracted great interest from both students and the faculty members of the department. During the lecture, Olga Viktorovna thoroughly highlighted the distinctive features of the development of Russian literature in the post-war decade, paying particular attention to the main typological trends of the literary process, the evolution of the artistic consciousness of the era, as well as the semantic and emotional richness of literary language.

The central part of the lecture was devoted to an in-depth literary analysis of Yury Nagibin’s short story “Winter Oak.” The artistic features of the work, its moral and philosophical issues, system of characters, compositional originality, and humanistic orientation were comprehensively examined. In addition, Konstantin Paustovsky’s work “Telegram” was discussed as an example demonstrating the spiritual and moral values of Russian literature, the themes of memory, human duty, and inner responsibility.

Particular interest among the audience was sparked by the lecturer’s reflections on the intensified semantic weight of words as an important feature of post-war literary texts, where every word acquires special depth of meaning, emotional expressiveness, and philosophical significance.

The lecture was accompanied by several informative presentations that enabled students to become more familiar with the literary material, trace the specifics of artistic analysis, and gain a deeper understanding of Russian literature of the second half of the twentieth century.

As part of the event, Olga V. Efremova also presented certificates of merit to students who participated in the festive concert held on April 23, 2026, dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Faculty members of the Department of Russian Philology were awarded letters of appreciation for their active participation in organizing and conducting the patriotic event. In her speech, Olga Viktorovna expressed sincere gratitude to the organizers and participants of the concert, emphasizing the high level of preparation, creative approach, sincerity of performance, and the importance of preserving historical memory among young people.

Olga V. Efremova also presented a letter of appreciation to the Rector of the Scientific-Educational Production Complex “ZhAGU named after B. Osmonov,” Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor K.Zh. Usenov, expressing gratitude for supporting educational, cultural, and international initiatives aimed at developing and strengthening academic cooperation.

The guest lecture was attended by the Director of the Philological Institute, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Ch.A. Asylbekova, who thanked Olga Viktorovna for her high professionalism, informative presentation, and significant contribution to the development of international educational cooperation.
