Countering Online Fraud: Building Students’ Digital Security Awareness

On April 28, 2026, a curatorial session was held in group RYaL-1-23, conducted by the group curator — Senior Lecturer of the Department of Russian Philology, N.S. Zhamasheva. The topic of the meeting was: “Types of Online Fraud” and “Fraudulent Schemes in Social Media and Ways to Protect Against Them.”

During the event, the most common types of online fraud were thoroughly discussed, including phishing, fake accounts, financial scams, and manipulation in social networks. Special attention was paid to relevant real-life examples that students may encounter in their everyday digital environment.

Participants were provided with practical recommendations for ensuring personal information security: rules for creating strong passwords, recognizing suspicious messages and links, as well as methods of protecting personal data on the Internet.

Representatives of the teaching staff of the department also attended the session. They actively participated in the discussion, shared their professional experience, and emphasized the importance of developing устойчивые навыки safe and responsible behavior in the digital space among students.

The event contributed to increasing students’ digital literacy, raising their awareness of potential online risks, and strengthening the culture of safe use of Internet resources.
