Career guidance activities of the Department of Russian Philology faculty

On April 21, 2026, the lecturers of the Department of Russian Philology — N. S. Jamasheva and D. T. Sultanbaeva — held a series of outreach meetings with graduates of School No. 16 named after E. Arapbaev in Manas, Secondary School No. 94 named after B. Kalymbetov, and Secondary School No. 13 named after A. Bazarov in Suzak District as part of the career guidance campaign.

            The main topic of the visits was the admission campaign for the 2026–2027 academic year and the introduction of new mechanisms of state funding for education.

            The lecturers explained in detail the voucher system for allocating state-funded places in universities of the Kyrgyz Republic, based on the principle “money follows the student.” Within the pilot project, applicants for pedagogical programs receive state educational grants (vouchers), which allow them to independently choose a university — whether public or private.

            They clarified the conditions for obtaining a voucher: to participate in the competition, applicants must score at least 130 points on the National Testing (ORT). Applications are submitted electronically before the main admission rounds. Graduates were informed that the voucher for universities is set at 42,350 soms per year, which fully covers tuition fees at public institutions.

            The lecturers also spoke about the advantages of studying Russian Philology, shared information about vibrant student life, internships, and employment prospects for graduates. Special attention was paid to the demand for philologists in the modern educational and media environment.

            At the end of the meetings, students received informational brochures and an invitation to the “Open Day at JAGU,” scheduled for April 27, 2026.

            The meetings were held in a warm and trusting atmosphere. High school students actively engaged in dialogue, asking questions about admission, entrance exams, deadlines for submitting documents, and opportunities for student life. Many were interested in employment prospects, participation in research projects, and academic mobility.

            In conclusion, the lecturers expressed gratitude to the school principals for their cooperation and hospitality. They emphasized that such events help students make a conscious choice and see the university not as an abstract institution, but as an open space of opportunities where everyone can realize themselves.
