Was A Scientific Event Dedicated to the Works of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and William Shakespeare Held

On April 30, 2026 at the Department of German Language and Interfaculty Foreign Languages of B. Osmonov Jalal-Abad State University, a scientific event dedicated to the great thinker Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and the world-renowned classic and outstanding playwright William Shakespeare was organized and conducted at a high level. The event was held within the framework of the clubs “Wir sprechen die Sprache von Goethe” (“We Speak the Language of Goethe”) and “Talking Club”. The event was attended by the Deputy Director for Research of the Philological Institute, Associate Professor, Candidate of Philological Sciences Orozbaeva G.A., Head of the Department Esenova A.G., members of the teaching staff, club leaders Bekieva N. and Turgunbaeva N., the person responsible for the scientific work of the department Dosieva D. as well as students. The main objective of the event was to increase students’ interest in world classical literature, to motivate them to study foreign languages through the works of Goethe and Shakespeare and to develop students’ critical thinking, speaking skills, and ability to prepare scientific reports. The event was moderated by Dosieva D., the person responsible for the scientific work of the department, who at the beginning gave the floor to the Head of the Department, Esenova A.G. In her speech she elaborated on the role of these two outstanding figures in world literature as well as on the educational and artistic value of their works. Then the leader of the “Talking Club”, Turgunbaeva Nuriya, emphasized the importance of such events in developing students’ scientific and creative potential and in promoting in-depth study of foreign languages. It was noted that this event was organized at the initiative of the two clubs operating within the department. The contribution of their leaders Bekieva N. and Turgunbaeva N. was highlighted as they actively work with students significantly contributing to increasing interest in language learning and the development of students’ creative abilities. As part of the round table, students read excerpts from the works of Goethe and Shakespeare and delivered reports on their philosophical views. Presentations and academic reports on their lives and works were also delivered. Intellectual games and dialogues were conducted during the program. In addition participants were asked blitz questions, where students demonstrated their activity and level of knowledge. A special highlight of the program was a video excerpt from the play “Romeo and Juliet ” which enriched the event. This staged video material was independently prepared by students of groups РЯЛ-1-25 and T-1-25 and filmed outdoors. The role of Romeo was performed by Kalenderov Barsbek a student of group T-1-25, while Suyunbekova B. a student of group РЯЛ-1-25 successfully portrayed the character demonstrating a high level of English proficiency and acting skills. The event was hosted by Bazarbaeva Apal, a student of group РЯЛ-1-25, which contributed to making the round table lively and engaging. At the end of the event certificates were awarded to active participants and the event was concluded at a high organizational level. The event contributed to increasing students’ interest in foreign languages and world literature.
