MANAS LIVES IN OUR HEARTS, AITMATOV LIVES IN OUR MINDS

         On December 4, under the guidance of Senior Lecturer N.A. Zhumabekova from the Department of English Language and Literature, the English Drama Club organized a scientific-literary party, dedicated to the Day of the "Manas" Epic and the birthday of the great writer Chinghiz Aitmatov, celebrated on December 12th. The goal of the event was to honor the spiritual heritage of the Kyrgyz people and emphasize Chinghiz Aitmatov's significance as an important figure in world literature.The program featured presentations, performances, and discussions that explored the depth and historical significance of the ancient epic “Manas”, as well as the humanistic ideas and universal themes expressed in Aitmatov’s works. Students delivered speeches about the role of the Manas epic in preserving national identity, and shared insights into Aitmatov’s philosophical vision, creative path, and contribution to world literature.Members of the English Drama Club staged theatrical scenes inspired by Aitmatov’s novels, recited poems, and presented analytical reflections on his characters and storytelling style. The event created a lively atmosphere that combined scholarship, literature, and creativity, emphasizing the importance of cultural continuity and intellectual engagement.The party concluded with an open discussion, where participants expressed their admiration for the rich cultural heritage of Kyrgyzstan and reaffirmed that “Manas lives in our hearts, and Aitmatov lives in our minds.” This meaningful gathering once again highlighted the value of studying and celebrating national literary treasures, especially among the younger generation.
