ENHANCING TEACHERS’ PROFESSIONAL SKILLS: A MASTER CLASS ON THE 5E MODEL

On March 12, 2026, a methodological master class organized by the faculty members of the Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling was held at Secondary School No. 18 “Manas-1000” in the city of Manas. The event was conducted in accordance with the joint work plan with the partner school under the supervision of M.N. Nurmatova, PhD in Physical and Mathematical Sciences and Senior Lecturer of the department. The topic of the master class was “Lesson Planning Based on the 5E Model and Its Effectiveness in Teaching.” During the master class, the following areas were discussed in detail: The pedagogical foundations of the 5E model and its role in modern education; The five stages of the 5E model and their purposeful implementation; The practical application of the “Elaborate” and “Evaluate” stages in lesson planning. At the beginning of the event, an interactive pre-test was conducted using the digital tool Plickers in order to determine the participants’ baseline knowledge of the 5E model. The practical part included group work, where teachers compared the structure of a traditional lesson with the 5E model. At the end of the session, the “Exit Ticket” strategy was used, in which teachers identified their needs for further professional development. This master class served as the first introductory stage in mastering the 5E model. The logical continuation of the event will be the next practical stage, during which teachers will apply the acquired theoretical knowledge by independently planning and conducting open lessons, thereby strengthening their professional competencies.
