Discussion of modern trends in linguacultural studies and bilingualism at an international scientific conference

On December 12-13, 2025, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Translingual Linguistics and Cultural Studies: Theoretical Directions and Practice of Teaching Russian as a Second Language” was held in Bishkek. It was organized by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovation of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after B.N. Yeltsin, and the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba.

Philologists from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kuban, Uralsk, Yakutsk, and the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in the conference. The program was structured around two main topics: "Linguacultural Studies in the Theory and Practice of Teaching Russian as a Second Language" and "Current Issues in Linguacultural Studies and Methods of Teaching Russian as a Second Language."

During the breakout sessions, issues of contemporary linguistic discourse, current trends in the development of linguacultural studies, bilingualism, and issues of methodology for teaching Russian as a second language were examined and actively discussed.

In the section "Current Issues in Linguocultural Studies and Methods of Teaching Russian as a Second Language," D. T. Aiylchieva, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Philology at the Institute of Philology at Jalal-Abad State University, presented a paper entitled "The Functioning of the Russian Language and Culture in the Jalal-Abad Region: Experience, Results, and Prospects." The conference was held at a high scientific and theoretical level.

The conference contributed to the acquisition of a significant volume of scientific and educational information and presented a number of innovations aimed at practical application.
