Ensuring the Validity of Test Items and Ways to Compile Quality Tests

On December 6, 2025, the Testing Center of the Scientific Educational and Industrial Complex “Jalal-Abad State University named after B. Osmonov” organized a seminar for newly appointed lecturers of the institutes and colleges for the 2025-2026 academic year. The seminar “Ensuring the Validity of Test Items and Ways to Compile Quality Tests” was aimed at training the lecturers on how to compile test items within the automated information system AVN 37.

The main goal of the seminar was to enhance the lecturers' competence in the field of testing, familiarize them with the Regulation on Compiling Test Items for Modules and Examinations, and introduce them to the basic principles and requirements for ensuring the validity of test items. Furthermore, special attention was paid to the development of practical skills necessary for correctly determining the accuracy, clarity, and difficulty level of quality test items.

During the seminar, participants were divided into groups and, with the aim of promptly applying the acquired theoretical knowledge in practice, they compiled test items for their respective subjects. These items included various formats: closed-ended, open-ended, matching questions, sequencing questions, as well as items utilizing images and graphic materials. The test items compiled by the groups were analyzed during the seminar, and participants received constructive feedback. As a result, the new lecturers acquired confident skills in creating valid test items in accordance with the Regulation on Compiling Test Items for Modules and Examinations and the requirements of the AVN 37 system. The Testing Center will continue to organize events aimed at improving the professional competence of lecturers, in accordance with the work plan.
