AIDS - The Enemy of the Century

Guest Lecture on World AIDS Day

On November 28, 2025, a guest lecture was organized for students of the Institute of Philology as part of the events dedicated to World AIDS Day.

Representatives from the Regional Center for Hemocontact Viral Hepatitis and HIV in the city of Manas participated in the event as honored guests. The lecturers were the Head of the Dispensary Department, M.K. Mamashov, and the nurse, U.A. Orunbaeva, who prepared an informative presentation and delivered a clear and useful lecture to the students. They thoroughly covered the latest statistics in the Kyrgyz Republic, the dynamics of HIV infection spread, the most vulnerable groups, modern diagnostic methods, and prevention measures.

How HIV is Transmitted:

  • Through Blood: Via shared use of injection equipment, insulin syringes, or other medical devices; through blood transfusion if the blood was received from an HIV-positive donor.
  • Sexually: During vaginal, oral, or anal sex without the use of a condom; through the bodily fluids of an infected person.
  • From Mother to Child (Vertical Transmission): During pregnancy, childbirth, or through breastfeeding.

Such events contribute to raising the students' awareness, fostering a responsible attitude towards their own health, and strengthening a culture of prevention among youth.
