AIDS – The Enemy of the Century!

Guest Lecture Dedicated to World AIDS Day

On November 28, 2025, as part of the events dedicated to World AIDS Day, a guest lecture was organized for the students of the Faculty of Philology.

Representatives of the Regional Center for Blood-Borne Viral Hepatitis and HIV in the city of Manas participated as honored guests. The speakers, Head of the Dispensary Department M.K. Mamashov and nurse U.A. Orunbaeva, prepared an informative presentation and delivered a clear and useful lecture for the students. They provided detailed information on the latest statistics in the Kyrgyz Republic, the dynamics of HIV transmission, the most vulnerable groups, modern diagnostic methods, and preventive measures.

How HIV is transmitted:

  • Through blood: by sharing injection equipment, syringes used for insulin or other medical procedures; through blood transfusion when receiving blood from an HIV-positive donor.
  • Sexually: during vaginal, oral, or anal intercourse without a condom; through the sexual fluids of an infected person.
  • From mother to child (vertical transmission): during pregnancy, childbirth, or through breastfeeding.

Such events contribute to increasing students’ awareness, fostering responsible attitudes toward personal health, and strengthening a culture of prevention among young people.
