New International Opportunities at JASU: Fulbright Specialists Open New Horizons for Education
New opportunities for intensive English language learning, practical communication, and direct academic exchange with specialists from the United States are being introduced at B. Osmonov Jalal-Abad State University during the 2026–2027 academic year.
Today, Jonathan Pearl, Education Programs Advisor at the U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic, and Gulzat Kochorova, Fulbright Program Coordinator, met with Stalbek Kuvakov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Candidate of Technical Sciences, and Ruslan Arapbaev, Director of the Department of International Relations and Rankings and Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, to introduce the Fulbright specialists who have joined the University.
With the support of the U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic, Cole McCartney from the State of Idaho and Aurey Aslani-Far from the State of New York will work at JASU for one academic year as English teaching specialists under the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Program.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the main areas of the Fulbright specialists’ work at the University. They will contribute directly to the educational process as full-time instructors at the Department of English Language and Literature and the Department of Intercultural Communication and Linguistics of the Institute of Philology.
Their activities will focus on strengthening students’ practical English language skills, developing conversational proficiency, promoting direct communication with native speakers, and expanding intercultural exchange.
In addition, English language courses, conversation clubs, and educational activities involving Fulbright specialists are planned at the American Center for JASU faculty members, students, and schoolchildren.
This initiative represents another important step toward strengthening the University’s international academic environment, expanding educational opportunities, and developing cooperation and academic exchange with the United States.
