Rector of JASU visits Xinjiang Light Industry Vocational and Technical Institute and signs a memorandum of cooperation

On June 25, 2026, the Rector of Jalal-Abad State University named after B. Osmonov, Keneshbek Zhumabekovich Usenov, paid an official visit to the Xinjiang Light Industry Vocational and Technical Institute of the People’s Republic of China. The visit took place within the framework of developing international cooperation in vocational education between Kyrgyzstan and China. The Chinese side was represented by Su Zhi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Institute, as well as Vice-Rector Guo Jiang, who chaired the symposium.

During the visit, the JASU delegation was introduced to the institute’s infrastructure, including the Industry–Education Integration Training Center at the College of Food Engineering, the State Training Base for the Textile and Garment Industry at the College of Textile and Apparel Engineering, the Research, Development and Promotion Center in Adras, and the educational facilities of the College of Information Technology. The Chinese side noted that the institute’s academic directions—textile industry, food engineering, electronics and information technology, new energy and new materials, and chemical engineering—are closely aligned with the industrial development needs of Central Asian countries. The institute already has regional cooperation experience, regularly conducting training in mining industry and safety in Kyrgyzstan, with more than 1,500 students trained from the region.

At the conclusion of the visit, Su Zhi and Keneshbek Usenov signed a memorandum of cooperation between the Xinjiang Light Industry Vocational and Technical Institute and Jalal-Abad State University. The document provides for the joint development of bilingual standardized courses in textiles and garment production, food industry, green chemistry, and mining safety; exchange of faculty members and short-term professional training programs; student exchange programs; and cooperation with China-funded overseas enterprises for targeted workforce training.

Both sides emphasized that the partnership will establish a long-term platform for faculty and student exchange, joint curriculum development, and resource sharing for practical training, as well as promote transnational cooperation in vocational education to support sustainable industrial development in the region.
