A New Stage of Kyrgyz-Korean Cooperation: University Hosts King Sejong Institute Foundation Inspection Team

25–26 May 2026, university hosted an inspection team from the King Sejong Institute Foundation as part of the evaluation process for establishing a Korean Language Center “Sejong Hakdang” at the university.

It should be noted that in February 2026, JASU officially submitted an application for the establishment of the center and successfully passed the first stage of selection. The visiting delegation consisted of two representatives of the King Sejong Institute Foundation and one external expert.

In addition, Howard Lee, Director of International Cooperation at Halla University, visited the university. Halla University is a partner of JASU in the initiative to establish the Korean Language Center. The cooperation agreement between the two universities was signed in December of last year.

As part of the visit, Howard Lee held a meeting with students of the Institute of Philology and the Institute of Economics and Law, where he spoke about opportunities for studying and employment abroad, as well as academic mobility prospects for JASU students. Special attention was given to the opportunities made possible through the partnership with Halla University. A meeting with students of the Foreign College is also scheduled for today.

The official program of the inspection visit began with a meeting with the Rector of the university. During the meeting, the Rector presented the university’s main areas of activity and spoke about the expected outcomes and opportunities related to the opening of the Korean Language Center.

During the discussion, the parties exchanged views on the future development plans for the center, methods of promoting the Korean language and culture, the organization of the educational process, and prospects for international cooperation. The dialogue took place in a productive and constructive atmosphere.

Following the meeting, representatives of the King Sejong Institute Foundation visited the classrooms and infrastructure prepared for the future Korean Language Center.

At the conclusion of the visit, the inspection team, together with university representatives, the Director of International Cooperation of Halla University, and instructors of the Korean language program, will summarize the results and provide final recommendations regarding the establishment of the “Sejong Hakdang” center at JASU.
