Educational Events with Participation of U.S. Embassy Representatives

A series of educational and outreach events were held at Jalal-Abad State University and the American Center with the participation of representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek.

On April 15, 2026, Jalal-Abad State University (JASU) and the American Center hosted a number of educational and awareness-raising activities involving representatives of the U.S. Embassy. The program of the day included speaking clubs, presentations on international programs, and professional training sessions for teachers.

The day began with a Talking Club conducted by Aurelia for students and school pupils enrolled in English language courses. The event took place in the large conference hall of the American Center. Participants were welcomed and introduced to the guests from the U.S. Embassy. Special attention was given to the presentation of the Fulbright exchange programs. The presentation was delivered by Cultural Affairs Officer Jeff Bunting, as well as English language specialists Monica Jang and Jake Adams. Participants from JASU — including faculty members, staff of the International Relations and Ranking Department, administrative personnel, and students — received detailed information about opportunities for studying and internships abroad and were able to ask their questions.

In the second half of the day, a Spelling Bee competition on the theme of Freedom250 was held, organized by Aurelia. The participants demonstrated a high level of English proficiency, and their performances were evaluated by invited experts. As part of the event, materials from the Freedom250 project were presented: the guests brought thematic photographs, and participants were able to explore them in more detail through QR codes and video materials. The participants also had the opportunity to develop their speaking skills in an interactive format.

The program concluded with a training session for JASU English language teachers conducted by Jake Adams and Monica Jang. The training covered modern teaching methodologies and practical approaches to instruction.

The events contributed to strengthening international cooperation, enhancing students’ language skills, and improving the professional qualifications of teachers.
