International Conference at Jalal-Abad State University Dedicated to Aitmatov’s Legacy: From National Spirit to Global Heights

On March 27, 2026, Jalal-Abad State University named after B. Osmonov hosted an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the great humanist and world-renowned writer Chyngyz Torokulovich Aitmatov, as well as the 40th anniversary of the Issyk-Kul International Forum. The conference was held under the theme: “The Spiritual and Humanistic Heritage of Chyngyz Aitmatov and the Issyk-Kul Forum: National Spirit — Global Heights as a Sustainable Path of Development in the Context of Dialogue between Cultures and Civilizations.”

The event became an important platform that brought together the scientific and cultural community, where the spiritual and humanistic legacy of Chyngyz Aitmatov was examined from a new perspective within the framework of sustainable development. Special attention was also given to the role of the Issyk-Kul International Forum in strengthening intercultural ties and promoting dialogue among civilizations.

The conference was organized in cooperation with the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Jalal-Abad region, the international organization “TURK ELU” (USA), the Andijan branch of Kokand University (Uzbekistan), the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation (Uzbekistan), the University of Health Sciences (Turkey), the Institute of Folk Technologies (Republic of Uzbekistan), the Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade named after Mikhail Tugan-Baranovsky (Russia), as well as the Institute of Scientific Communications (ANO). This international collaboration confirms the global significance of the conference and the integration of its participants into the global scientific community.

The main goal of the event was to promote spiritual values that contribute to the sustainable development of humanity through the ideas of Chyngyz Aitmatov, to strengthen scientific cooperation at national and international levels, and to deepen mutual understanding between cultures.

As part of the conference, presentations were delivered in the following key areas:

  • Chyngyz Aitmatov and the global literary space;
  • Philosophical and humanistic ideas in Aitmatov’s works;
  • Intercultural relations and diplomacy: the Issyk-Kul Forum as a platform for dialogue among civilizations;
  • The Issyk-Kul Forum and issues of technological development;
  • Natural sciences and environmental challenges of modern society (in the context of sustainable development).

A total of 187 scientific papers were submitted to the conference, of which 124 presentations were delivered across 8 sections. This once again confirms the high academic level and relevance of the event.

Participants of the conference included faculty members of higher and secondary professional educational institutions from the Kyrgyz Republic and abroad, researchers, master’s students, postgraduate students, doctoral candidates, students, as well as representatives of government and municipal authorities, and professionals from the fields of culture and diplomacy.

Following the conference, it was noted that the presented scientific papers will be published in international journals, including those indexed in the Scopus database, as well as in the scientific journal “Bulletin” of Jalal-Abad State University.

This conference became an important academic platform aimed at integrating the legacy of Chyngyz Aitmatov with the principles of sustainable development, deepening dialogue between cultures and civilizations, and generating new scientific ideas capable of addressing global challenges.
