The Academic Council is the highest elected representative body responsible for the overall governance of the Jalal-Abad State University (JASU).

The purpose of the Academic Council is to determine the current and strategic directions of the University’s development, to consolidate the efforts of the University administration, academic staff, and support personnel in training specialists, and to coordinate educational, methodological, research, and extracurricular activities of the University.

The composition and formation procedure of the Academic Council, its powers, leadership, rights and responsibilities of its members, as well as the organization of its work and procedures for conducting meetings are defined by the Regulations on the Academic Council of JASU and the Rules of Procedure of the Academic Council of JASU.

Main Responsibilities of the Academic Council:

1. Determining and amending the organizational structure of the University;

2. Making decisions on the establishment of new academic programs within primary and continuing professional education;

3. Approving educational programs and curricula;

4. Approving key regulations governing academic, research, and extracurricular activities of the University;

5. Defining procedures and organizing elections of the Rector, Deans, and Heads of Departments;

6. Reviewing matters related to the awarding of academic titles and appointment of academic staff;

7. Approving the annual budget (income and expenditures) of the University and reviewing reports on its implementation;

8. Defining the strategy for entrepreneurial activities and allocating extra-budgetary and other funds for institutional and social needs;

9. Addressing issues related to international and inter-university cooperation;

10. Conferring honorary titles of the University.
