4K CONCEPTS: A MASTER CLASS DEDICATED TO DEVELOPING 21ST-CENTURY SKILLS

A master class on “Using Practical Lesson Tools Based on the 4K Concept” was held at the Pedagogical Institute named after E. Umetov of the Jalal-Abad State University named after B. Osmonov.

Organizers: Department of Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling, Senior Lecturer M.N. Nurmatova, and FMBB(M)-1-23 student N. Abdullaeva.

Participants in the master class included: Associate Professor B.M. Turdubaeva, Senior Lecturers U. Azhikulova and M. Matkarimova, and Lecturers B. Sydykova, Zh. Erkinbek kyzy, N. Zhoroeva, and others, who expressed positive, constructive, and encouraging feedback. The main goal of the event was to introduce students to modern methods and practical tools for integrating key 21st-century skills (4Cs: cooperation, communication, critical thinking, creativity) into the educational process.

All tasks within the masterclass were conducted in a comprehensive and practical format:

• Integrated Task: Students, divided into groups, worked on the problem “Startup Investments: Planning Using Progressions.”

• Critical Analysis: Using arithmetic and geometric progressions, they analyzed startup financial growth models. The risks of both pre-prepared models were analyzed, and an optimal hybrid model was proposed.

• Cooperation and Roles: Each group member fulfilled a clearly defined role (chief analyst, assistant analyst, marketer, project manager, time manager), demonstrating effective teamwork skills.

• Creative Solutions: The groups supplemented the hybrid model with creative strategies. • Communication and Defense: Group 1 visualized their work using tables, while Group 2 prepared an electronic presentation, which they confidently defended in a “defense to investors” format.

A distinctive feature of the master class was the active use of digital tools and modern assessment methods:

• After completing the practical assignment, N. Abdullaeva presented a report on the 4C concept. The Plickers app was then used to quickly assess the participants' initial understanding and knowledge of the 4C concept, making the process interactive and fast.

• Group members self-assessed their performance using distributed self-assessment sheets.

The master class demonstrated the effectiveness of combining theory and practice and served as a tool for analyzing the methodological framework for using practical teaching aids. Students learned to combine mathematical knowledge with important skills such as decision-making, strategy development, and effective teamwork. This master class is a significant contribution to preparing mathematics students for the demands of the modern educational environment.
