Department of Obstetrics and Pediatrics

The department was established by the decision of the Academic Council and by the order of the Rector of Jalal-Abad State University (JASU) No. 1/15 dated January 19, 2016. The first head of the department was Candidate of Medical Sciences Nurgul Adylgazievna Sadyrova (2016–2022). In the following years, the department was headed by Meerkhan Kimsanovna Ermatova.
The department is a structural unit of the Faculty of Medicine at JASU and carries out educational, methodological, and scientific research work. The department provides training for 3rd-, 4th-, and 5th-year medical students.

Teaching at the department is carried out in accordance with the State Educational Standard of Higher Professional Education (GOST VPO), approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, following a unified methodological system that takes into account the specifics of the subjects. Lectures are delivered using technical teaching aids (TTA).
The department has developed working programs that include competency maps, methodological guidelines with thematic plans for lectures and practical classes, test variants, questions for modules, midterms, and final exams, as well as required literature lists and self-study programs.
Special attention is given to improving the teaching skills of instructors in the English language due to the presence of international student groups. Experienced lecturers from foreign countries (India, Pakistan, Uzbekistan) are invited annually to deliver lectures. The teaching staff of the department also works on the development and publication of educational and visual materials.
Research Activities of the Department:
The department conducts scientific work on two topics:
1. "Clinical and epidemiological characteristics of liver cirrhosis as an outcome of chronic hepatitis C."
The research is supervised by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Anarkan Shabolotovna Tashpolotova.
2. "Caring for patients' health through telemedicine."
The research is led by Lecturer Azamat Nabizhanov.
A student scientific conference has been organized at the department, headed by Senior Lecturer Elmira Azimbaevna Tilekbaeva and Lecturer Tolgonai Tagaevna Abdramanova.
This conference plays a significant role in shaping future doctors and researchers. While studying disciplines and completing their first scientific projects, students gain valuable skills that are useful both in medical practice and in scientific research.
Organization and Participation in Conferences:
The department staff organized a regional conference dedicated to World Tuberculosis Day on the topic:
"Current issues of tuberculosis and ways to solve them."
Department members actively participate in scientific and practical conferences, symposiums, and seminars, presenting reports and receiving certificates.

Material and Technical Base of the Department
The department is located in the ATF educational building of Jalal-Abad State University (JASU). It has 15 rooms assigned to it, including:
- 2 lecture halls
- 12 classrooms for practical classes
- 1 simulation room
- 1 laboratory assistant’s room
- 1 office for the Head of Department
The classrooms for practical training are equipped with visual aids, anatomical models of body parts and organs, educational posters, and a delivery table with a childbirth mannequin.
The simulation room is used for storing and demonstrating student work related to the study of human anatomy.
Lecture halls are used for lectures and large-scale events such as academic competitions and Olympiads. The staff office and the Head of Department's office are equipped with internet access and provide access to the electronic library.
Mission and Main Objectives of the Department:
- The mission of the department is to train students who combine high professional training with a broad cultural outlook, computer literacy, and knowledge and skills in interpersonal communication, all of which are provided by the department.
- Development of network programs for collaboration with other departments and universities both within the country and abroad.
- Development of human resources, improving the professional qualifications of the department’s academic and research staff.
- Increase in the number of international students enrolled in the department’s educational programs.
- Strengthening international cooperation, and integrating the department into the scientific research and innovation community.
- Carrying out joint scientific research involving students.
- Implementation of innovative technologies that foster the identification and development of students' creative potential.
The session is a pediatrics class conducted by instructor Elmira Azimbaevna Tilekbaeva. The students are practicing on a newborn mannequin, likely performing tasks related to examination or providing first aid. The instructor, wearing a medical coat, is assisting the students in the learning process by demonstrating the correct actions. The classroom has a friendly atmosphere, with students actively participating in the process, and visual aids with illustrations are displayed on the walls, helping with the learning process. This session is aimed at developing practical skills in pediatrics, which is an essential part of preparing future doctors
A session on obstetrics and gynecology is being conducted by instructor Turdayim Makhmadjanovna Boronova. The students are observing the process of providing medical assistance to a patient who is lying in bed with an IV drip. The instructor is assisting the patient, either performing an examination or demonstrating the correct technique for treatment. The students, dressed in medical attire, are attentively watching the instructor’s actions, which helps them develop practical skills necessary for their future medical practice. The classroom creates an atmosphere of professionalism and patient care.
