Short story
The Faculty of Medicine at JASU was opened in 2000 on the basis of protocol No. 2 of September 25 in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia No. 595/1 of September 27, 2000. In 2005 it was closed for reasonable reasons and students were transferred to other universities of the Kyrgyz Republic. In 2010, based JASU, on the basis of license No. 576 and by order of the rector No. 287 dated 10/04/2010, the Faculty of Medicine was again founded.
The Department of Pharmacy of the Faculty of Medicine of Jalal-Abad State University named
after B. Osmonov was opened in 2013 (order No. 1/320 10.23.13). Much credit for the opening of the pharmaceutical direction of the Faculty of Medicine belongs to Ph.D., Professor A.K. Kozhaliev. Thanks to his efforts, the department was provided with material and technical resources and personnel. The first head of the “Pharmacy” department was appointed candidate of pharmaceutical sciences, associate professor Sh.S. Begaliev. A significant contribution to the formation and further development of the department was made by candidate of biological sciences, associate professor Zh.M. Orozbaeva. During its activity, the department was transformed, changed its name, and expanded the scope of teaching. These transformations were associated with changes and adjustments to the curriculum for the preparation of the specialty Pharmacy.
In 2020, based on the decision of the Academic Council of JASU, two departments of the Faculty of Medicine “Pharmacy” and “Medical and Biological Disciplines” were merged into one department of “Pharmacy and Biomedical Disciplines” (order No. 139 08/28/2020), the department was headed by Ph.D. .Sc., Associate Professor B.K. Ernazarova. In 2022, based on the decision of the Academic Council of JASU, two departments of the university “Chemistry” and “Pharmacy and Biomedical Disciplines” were merged into one department (order No. 17. 01/31/2022), headed by associate professor. N.B. Arstanbekova. From 09/01/2022 to the present time, the Department of Pharmacy is headed by Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor B.M. Osmonova. The department is an educational and scientific structural unit of the medical faculty of JASU named after B. Osmonov, carrying out educational, methodological and research work.
Educational activities
The Department of Pharmacy trains pharmaceutical personnel in the specialty 560005 Pharmacy. Personnel training is carried out on the basis of the state educational standard of higher professional education (State Educational Standard of Higher Professional Education) in the specialty 560005 Pharmacy, approved by order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation No. 1179/1 dated September 15, 2015, 2021. A basic educational program (BEP) has been developed as a mandatory document in the BEP specialty 560005 Pharmacy, included graduate model.
In 2020, OOP 560005 Pharmacy received international program accreditation by the IAAR for a period of 3 years, and over the past 2 years (2022, 2023) it was awarded 2nd place according to the IAAR rating.
OOP HPE in the field of preparation 560005 Pharmacy aims to form in students universal (general scientific, instrumental, social-personal and general cultural) and professional competencies in accordance with the requirements of the State Educational Standard for Higher Professional Education in this area of training and to develop in students such personal qualities as determination, organization , responsibility, citizenship, sociability, tolerance, etc., increasing their general culture, the desire for self-realization and self-improvement in the profession within the framework of continuous education and self-education. OOP 560005 Pharmacy has its own mission and goal.

Training of competitive, competent pharmaceutical personnel, ready to improve the health and quality of life of the population through the provision of highly qualified pharmaceutical care, based on continuous pharmaceutical education, scientific research and professional activities that meet the requirements of the modern world, integration and innovation in the field of pharmacy. The goals of the Higher Professional Education Program in the specialty 560005 Pharmacy are:
Goal 1: To prepare a pharmacist with general and professional competencies that contribute to his social mobility and sustainability in the labor market, ready for postgraduate training followed by professional pharmaceutical activities in his chosen field.
Goal 2: To provide basic theoretical and pharmaceutical knowledge for the acquisition of professional skills in the field of providing treatment, preventive and medical-social care to the population of Kyrgyzstan and the CIS countries.
Goal 3: To develop students’ sense of purpose, organization, responsibility, to promote general culture, self- realization and self-education, to teach continuous pharmaceutical education and to be in demand in modern society.
The Department of Pharmacy is a graduating department. Graduates of the department have high- quality fundamental training, practical and research experience work obtained during educational internships in pharmaceutical disciplines; are ready for effective professional work and are competitive in the labor market. Upon graduation from the educational institution, graduates are awarded the qualification “Pharmacist” with the possibility of employment in leading pharmacies and pharmaceutical enterprises, drug quality control centers and research institutes in the region, the Kyrgyz Republic and the CIS.
Currently, the profession of a pharmacist is considered one of the most promising and in demand. The growth of the country's population, increasing life expectancy, and improving people's well-being ultimately lead to the fact that annual healthcare costs are growing rapidly. A significant portion of these costs are attributed to drugs that are invented, researched, manufactured, and sold by pharmacists.

Methodical work
Methodological work is a set of measures aimed at ensuring the educational process of educational and methodological documentation, increasing the pedagogical skills of teachers, improving the classroom and independent work of students, improving all forms, types and methods of educational work. The main goal of methodological work is to create conditions that contribute to increasing the efficiency and quality of the educational process.
The educational process uses modern active and interactive learning technologies (trainings, business games, discussions, presentations, etc.) The department has electronic publications, modern software products, and computer equipment (projector, interactive whiteboard, etc.).
Teachers of the department introduce innovative educational technologies into the educational process, which involve the development in students of skills, abilities and competencies that correspond to the modern competency-oriented model of education.
Scientific research work (R&D)
Research activities
The main research areas of the department:
Determination of the chemical composition of medicinal plants in Kyrgyzstan; Natural iodopolymers. Prevention of endemic goiter and synthesis of organoselenium compounds; Synthesis of carbohydrate-based drugs and study of their physicochemical properties; Environmental pollution and the study of its impact on human health.
At the Department of Pharmacy, a research laboratory was organized: Phytopharmacist and “Physical and Chemical Analysis named after. A. Karabekov” under the guidance of teacher, Razykova N.Kh. and Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Acting Professor Ernazarova B.K. In the 2017-2018 academic year, as a result of the competition, the laboratory took 1st place in the “Best Scientific Laboratory” nominations and was awarded a cash prize organized by the administration of JASU. In the laboratory, undergraduate and graduate students conduct scientific research. Based on the results of research work, 1 candidate's dissertation and currently 1 doctoral dissertation have been successfully defended. Currently, 2 applicants are carrying out their research work in the field of synthesis of drugs under the guidance of Ph.D., Associate Professor Ernazarova B.K. In the 2018-2019 academic year, the research laboratory Phytopharmacist participated in the “Best Laboratory” competition dedicated to the 95th anniversary of ZHAGU and took 2-oh place.
All members of the department have scientific publications published in domestic and republican scientific journals (including RSCI journals, from the list of Higher Attestation Commissions, included in the international abstract database Scopus), and some have articles in foreign journals, collections of international conferences in the specialty. And also As a result of research on the synthesis of biologically active compounds, 7 patents of the Kyrgyz Republic were received. Over the course of five years, employees of the department published about 150 scientific articles, 9 patents of the Kyrgyz Republic were received, 3 monographs were published. 2015 acting Professor Ernazarov B.K. took 1st place and was awarded a cash prize in the competition of innovative projects “Fair of Ideas” among inventors of Kyrgyzstan organized by Kyrgyzstan.

The participation of students in research activities, in order to improve quality, is a mandatory element of the training of future specialists and is carried out in close connection with the educational process. To implement this principle, departments use various forms of student research work.
Teachers annually prepare students to participate in competitions at the faculty, university and republic. Student research work (SRW)
Particular attention is paid to the participation of young specialists and scientists in scientific work. The best graduates continue their studies in graduate school and, having successfully defended their work, dissertation are taught by Teachers and research work of students (NIRS and UIRS) are a mandatory, integral part of the training of qualified specialists as an inseparable components of the educational process. The development of students' research skills begins in the 1st year. Students of all courses are involved in scientific work in the “Pharmacist-Analyst” and “Olympus” circles, which are held at the department. Students of the department annually successfully participate in regional Olympiads and scientific conferences, winning prizes In 2015, for excellent educational achievements and for active participation in the public life of the university, student Topchubaeva Gulzina was awarded a Presidential scholarship.

Educational work
One of the most important components of working with students is supervisory work in groups. Its goal is to help students adapt to studying at the university, develop independent and creative work of students, create all conditions so that students can find their place in the student body and adapt to social life.
