The Confucius Institute at Jalal-Abad State University named after B. Osmonov

-Confucius Institute at JASU was established on December 26-December 2016.

-The Confucius Institute is a structural subdivision of the B. Osmonov Jalalabad State University

-The institute implements programs to teach Chinese language and culture for various activities (translation, tourism, business, finance, etc.). And provides special tools and equipment for training;

-the institute operates in accordance with the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Civil Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Non-Profit Organizations", the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On Education", the Charter of the JAGU, regulations, international treaties and the Charter of the Confucius Institute;

-the institute was established to meet the needs of young people, schoolchildren, students and young professionals of the Kyrgyz Republic wishing to learn about the developed Chinese state, learn the Chinese language and culture, as well as strengthen friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries - Kyrgyzstan and China.

The Institute's teaching process

- Teaching Chinese language and culture to different strata of society through a variety of methods, approaches and multimedia, online lessons;

- Providing information materials and tools necessary for teaching Chinese;

- Organizing contests to determine the level of Chinese language learning;

- Qrganizing flexible Chinese language courses in various fields;

- Importing and using Chinese language textbooks and manuals from China for the Confucius Institute's practical activities in the Kyrgyz Republic;

- Encourage teachers to conduct research and participate in Chinese language Olympiads;

- Organize language and cultural exchanges, teacher and language learner exchanges;

- Conducting the educational process at the institute in Kyrgyz, Chinese, Russian and English.

International activities of the institute

The Institute carries out international cooperation in accordance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Charter of JASU, the Charter of Confucius Institute at JAGU and relevant international agreements:

- institute teachers can participate in bilateral and multilateral programs for staff and language learners;

- also trains foreign citizens;

- sends institute students abroad for studies and internships;

- sends institute faculty members abroad to collaborate;

- conducts joint research, holds congresses, symposia, conferences, and other events;

- participates in activities of international organizations.

Public, Cultural, and Mass Activities of the Institute

Within a short period of time, the Confucius Institute has achieved several significant successes:

• At the Republican “Language Festival – 2017,” the Institute won 1st place in Chinese language, took 2nd place in the national “Chinese Bridge – 2018” competition, and received the “Best Speech” nomination at the “Chinese Bridge – 2017” contest held at BSU. Since then, the Institute has continued to earn various top places and nominations.
• In 2022, students of the Institute took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places at the regional Olympiad and achieved 1st and 2nd places at the global “Chinese Bridge 2022” competition.
• The Institute won 1st place in the international online competition “Internet Star – 2022.”
• In the global “Short Video” HSK competition, the Institute has repeatedly won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places.
• Among the Confucius Institutes of Kyrgyzstan, the Confucius Institute at Jalal-Abad State University won 2nd place in the “Chinese Songs – 2024” contest held at Bishkek Humanities University.
• In the 2024–2025 academic year, the Confucius Institute at Jalal-Abad State University was awarded the titles of “Outstanding Institute in the Field of International Media Engineering” and “Best Organizing Institute” by the “Chinese International Education Foundation” of the People’s Republic of China. These honors recognize the Institute’s achievements in recent years and its success in international and national competitions. Students of the Institute actively participated in the 4th International “Short Film” competition and achieved multiple successes. Many students also completed internships at universities in the People’s Republic of China, demonstrating high levels of activity and knowledge.
• The Confucius Institute at Jalal-Abad State University regularly organizes a variety of traditional events such as “Confucius Day,” “Chinese Days,” “Chinese Week,” “Winter Festival,” “Rice Festival,” “Graduation Ceremony,” “Chinese Bridge,” “Chinese Songs,” and others. These activities contribute to the vibrant life of the university, support its development, and play an important role in strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the Chinese and Kyrgyz peoples.

Future Tasks

• Promotion of the Chinese language: Strengthening the work of Chinese language courses, developing curricula, preparing methodological materials and textbooks, and creating the most favorable conditions for learning Chinese.
• Establishment of a Chinese-Kyrgyz Faculty jointly with Xinjiang University at Jalal-Abad State University.
• Cultural and educational exchange: Through learning Chinese, promote knowledge of Chinese history, culture, economy, medicine, and technology; continuously organize regional, cultural, and educational events.
• Strengthening cooperation within the framework of global integration systems.
• Enhancing international academic mobility and creating opportunities for students to improve their education abroad.
• Improving the modern material and technical base and promoting the use of new educational technologies.
